Technology as a collaboration tool
Collaboration is the act of working together and when you start bouncing ideas off another person the ideas expand into new concepts. One of the greatest things about the newest technology is that many of the tools are designed to allow you to collaborate with others. Tools such as Google docs allow you to “share” your project with whomever you want. That person can then goes into the document and edit or add to it. We, as future teachers, should be enthusiastic about this new concept because this allows us more time in class to do hands on learning while the discussions and projects are worked on together out of class. There is no longer a need for extended amounts of time to allow groups to work on projects in class because technology allows the students to collaborate in the comfort of their own homes.
As I mentioned earlier, collaboration also allows students to expand and develop ideas into something they never thought possible. The saying “two brains is better than one” couldn’t be truer. Bouncing ideas off another person forces you to think critically about why you are saying what you are saying because you may have to defend your position. Students will test other student’s ideas if they don’t feel those ideas have a solid basis. So, when collaborating students are forced to defend their ideas and thus expand on them.
There are many more uses for collaboration via technology than I cannot go into now but here is a small list of the ways collaborative tools can enhance our future classrooms:

4. Ability to work with students all over the world

5. More in depth projects because of the capability of working together anytime anywhere
