Google Reader

I enjoyed learning about Google Reader at our last class discussion. I hadn't known about it until class, and will probably use it for a long time. This tool is unique and useful. It saves a lot of time searching the internet for information and going to all different sources. With Google Reader, you can have all the information you need whenever you need it without having to explore many different websites and blogs. And, I really like that it lets you know when their is new information on the sites you have saved. So cool!

This tool is not only beneficial for anyone, but specifically for teachers. They can have sites for their specific subjects saved on it so they can know of any advancements in their field, sites filled with ideas and lesson plans so they can try new things in their classroom, and many other things. The uses for the teacher with Google Reader are many and fairly obvious. But what about the students?

One way this tool can be used by students is to collect data for a research project. For example, if the class is doing a project on reptiles, they can use Google Reader to find different blogs and websites about their reptile and follow it for several days to get all the information they need for their project. For an English class (my expertise :), the teacher can have the student pick a book and compile as much information they can about it and the author to share with the class. These are just a few ideas, I'm sure there are more. Can you think of any?
